The visual pathway from right eye to cortex, showing the optic chiasm's partial decussation — temporal (lateral) retina fibers stay uncrossed (ipsilateral), nasal (medial) retina fibers cross at the chiasm (contralateral); net result, each hemisphere's visual cortex represents the opposite half of the visual field. A reflex branch continues from the chiasm to the superior colliculus and oculomotor nuclei (pupillary / eye-movement reflexes). Solid meshes are real MNI152-space anatomy; wireframe markers are schematic, illustrative placements for structures too small or too deep for any freely available 3D atlas.
